What is thread count?

Thread count is measured by the number of threads per square inch of fabric. Therefore, the more closely woven threads have a higher thread count. Not only is the thread count important, but also the quality of the fiber itself. This is determined by the length of the staple, also known as the cotton fiber. Long-staple cotton can be spun into smoother, stronger, much finer yarn. The construction of the fabric also varies to create the desired hand: chamois soft or crisp percale, silken sateen, and lustrous jacquard.

What is down?

Down is the insulating fluff from underneath the feathers of waterfowl and the colder the climate and longer winter season produces a larger, warmer down. These nearly weightless down clusters radiate in all directions from a central point and interlock to trap air. It’s the air that keeps you warm! The feathers are taken from the outer plumage of waterfowl, and they radiate side to side from a tubular central quill for a flat, two dimensional appearance. This creates a firmer, springier texture and significantly less ability to trap air.

What is fill power, and how does it apply to each type of down?

Fill power is the standard measurement used to determine how many cubic inches is filled by each ounce of down. The larger the down the more air it is able to trap increasing warmth, but at the same time decreasing the weight of the product. (For example: If you held a 40 oz. down comforter with 550 fill power down in your left hand and a 40 oz. down comforter with 750 fill power down in your right hand, the 750 fill power down would feel lighter.) The three types of down we offer are listed below:

• Siberian White Gooese Down—800 Fill Power*

* Hypoallergenic—the down has been thoroughly washed and certified by the manufacturer as hypoallergenic.

Caring for your fine linens

We recommend following the manufacturer’s instructions for the care of all linens. However, there are some general rules to follow. Wash linens in cool to warm water on a gentle cycle. Use a mild detergent containing no phosphates or bleaching agents. Machine dry on low heat. Do not over dry, which may cause pilling and makes ironing difficult. Please see our "Clean" category on the "For Home" section for products for your most delicate and special items.

Monogramming

We offer professional monogramming service for most of our soft goods.  Monogramming may require an additional two to three weeks to deliver your order.  Since monogramming involves many options, please call us to make appropriate arrangements.

We will send you a designer application and upon presentation of proper credentials and our acceptance, we will establish an account for you. Such accounts contain minimum purchase amounts and will not be able to participate in specials, promotional events and shipping specials.
